Competition for a preliminary project of the Baleares Islands post graduation study centre building.

The project is the new centre for post graduate studies in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
A building of simple, compact and modular structure, which leverages the cardinal direction and allows the movement of the air, drawing on the thermal inertia of the soil at the same time to establish a natural passive air conditioning system. About the volume, the building was conceived as a bar with a cross cut marking the access. At this turning point, a triple space connects vertically all levels. The resulting two volumes, of different heights, open towards the South at best natural areas of study and work lighting. The different uses are grouped by levels: ground floor - classrooms; first floor - offices and teachers rooms; semi-basement floor - laboratories and technical rooms. The annexed spaces and facilities are grouped into nuclei in the Northern strip of the building.
Outer space project wants to represent an union between several existing buildings and the new centre of studies; it aims to create a dialogue among the different pieces placed freely in space, and becomes a carpet of colours, perfumes and textures.
