Villa Urania is a relic of the past, a building that recalls because of it's small ladder , the city of the nineteenth century , and evokes the memory of Catalan astronomer Josep Comas i Solà
The dense urban context surrounding it , and the little space that separates it from the neighboring high party walls , further accentuate his character witness, memory of a time and a person who today are historical references .
To correct the visual aggression of the party walls, we propose a new skin covering this space, like fabric inspired by the legacy of Josep i Comas Solà.
The composition recalls the eleven asteroids discovered by astronomer, transforming it into an urban scale art installation.
The facade of the new facility is an extension of the vertical garden.
Their panels with horizontal slats and hanging plants control light and aim to guide the view downwards, towards the historic building. The symbolic center of the set is the point of the deck where once stood the telescope.
