Naturalization project for the parking area of Platja Gran, Estartit

Estartit, un urban center of Torroella de Montgrí, is one of the most visited destinations on the Costa Brava, for its more than 5km of beaches, for the sports and fishing port and especially for being the gateway to the Medes Islands.
Platja Gran is the widest on the Costa Brava; its southern section is part of the Natural Park of Montgrí, the Medes Islands and Baix Ter.

Currently, a large strip of land separates the beach from the promenade: with an average width of 50m and a length of 480m, it is a piece of land used as informal parking. It is a non-place, an area that is no longer natural but neither urbanized, a wasteland whose great extension makes it difficult to cross-connect between the beach and the urban center.

The project defines guidelines for the naturalization and environmental restoration of the beach, beyond the section that forms the object of the project, with a global urban and environmental vision of this sector of the coast.
