Replacement of the roof of the Platja d'Aro Sports and Congress Centre

The project proposes the complete replacement of the roof of the Sports Hall and Congress Centre, built in 1985-89 with a multipurpose use program from its conception. Since its inception, the building has hosted competitive or exhibition sports activities, passing through other uses such as a congress palace, theater and all kinds of events.
Over time, different drips and water leaks were detected on the roof in many places. The City Council has periodically carried out corrective maintenance actions to deal with the different pathologies that have appeared in the building. Despite the numerous specific interventions carried out, the problems have not been solved.
The secondary objectives of the project include:
-Ensure the compatibility of the new roof with a future installation of photovoltaic solar panels; promoting sustainability and energy savings.
-Implement effective pest control measures, especially for seagull nesting:
-Relocate the 60 existing photovoltaic panels.
The renovation of the roof should result in energy savings of around 25% in the building's electricity consumption, thanks to the significant increase in thermal insulation (increasing the thickness to 200mm) and the use of state-of-the-art waterproofing systems.
