Mercè Rodoreda Library. Platja d'aro, Girona.

The Project, first prize of a 1999 contest, had proved to understand his privilege position: beside a rural historic house called "Masía Bas" becoming an inflection point between the already built area and the green park area which surround it.

The library building takes position in front of the central park plaza, burring the ground floor and separating a bit from the historical house, we give most of the urban presence to the Masía Mas.

The library is resolved by two floors, with very clear functional diagram. The main access is located on the first floor through a concrete bridge recover from the shelter of the old structure.

The underground yard has a little amphitheatre for the "story tale hour" for children and school groups. On the library roof we create a "mineral japanese garden" with two skylight windows. This place is at the same time the forward patio of the Masía Bas as well as a balcony over the park.
