Restoration of the Can Bas tower in Platja d’Aro

The object of the design project is the comprehensive restoration of the tower of the Masia Bas (also known as Can Bas Tower) in the town of Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro and S’Agaró. The complex formed by the tower and the main building of the country house was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 1988.
The comprehensive restoration is necessary due to the poor state of conservation of the construction, which endangers its heritage values. The tower has been unused and lacking maintenance for 20 years. The stone wall of the tower is almost entirely original and is in a good state of conservation, in contrast to the interior, where numerous interventions have been detected that have replaced the original materials and a poor state of conservation.
The project also proposes to recreate the connection with the upper floor of the farmhouse, with an external metal walkway / staircase, aiming eventually to expand the cultural use of Masia Bas with some of the tower rooms.
