Preliminary Study for the New Market of Plaza Mostenses, Madrid. Spain.
Inspired by the introduction of new uses and activities and the incorporation of new green spaces as a basis for urban recovery and public interest, a new building is proposed that will host a new market.
Equipped with an inclined and crossable roof that will improve the quality of public space, the market will vertically connect existing and proposed uses, improving access, connections and communication in every sense, thus completely transform the perception of space that is currently hard, fragmented, with visual barriers and with high building density.
The building is structured by small gardens that are articulated with 95 market stalls, dining spaces, services and storage facilities.
