Preliminary study for a residential complex in Guelma, Algeria

This is a preliminary study for the construction of a residential complex of 1,500 public housing, shopping areas, gardens, car parks and other outdoor spaces in an area of urban growth in the Algerian city of Guelma.

The complex consists in 32 buildings, which are classified into two basic types:
-The towers - eleven vertical buildings, with the first two levels of shopping areas and housing in the next 9 levels, except the central tower which has 14 housing levels.
The commercial area in the ground floor links the towers in pairs.
- Building Blocks - with commercial ground floor and five housing levels.

The housing typologies are spread across all the area in three different types with different proportions:
F3: 80m2 and a total of 25% of the households, F4: 100m2-50% and F5: 120m2-25%

The buildings are connected by a public ground floor open space which aims to promote social interaction and various activities. In this zone we can find parking areas, green spaces... all under the same concept and materiality.
