Preliminary study for the improvement of the car park on the Port Avenue and its transformation into a parking garden. Port Ginesta, Sitges

The proposal for the improvement of the Port Avenue and the transformation of the existing car park into parking garden is drawn up in the strategic framework of the green transformation and improvement of the competitiveness of the port.
Port Ginesta is an emblematic infrastructure of the Catalan coast and one of the largest marinas in the State. Its strategic location, 25 km from Barcelona and 12 km from the airport, in the middle section of the Catalan coast, gives it a unique (potential) interest as a tourist destination, even though Port Ginesta is not part of a consolidated tourist destination or a residential and leisure resort (as are the cases of l'Escala and Empuriabrava, the other two large Catalan marinas).
In order to be more competitive and sustainable, Port Ginesta must be transformed into a tourist destination, with leisure activities, attractive to visitors arriving from Sitges and Barcelona; to achieve it, it is necessary to redesign to make better use of existing facilities and free spaces.
The Port Avenue (Avinguda del Port) is the main circulation axis of the commercial area. As a public space, its treatment needs to be more natural and attractive at the same time. The project proposes 2 options, with new draining and green pavements, with more vegetation and shaded areas, transforming the avenue into a parking garden.
