Plana Square, Badalona – Improvement of the public space. Preliminary project

Plana Square is a public space of 5,300sqm with a 2-storey underground car park with 340 parking lots. The preliminary project to improve the square goes beyond changing the pavement: it includes environmental, energy, functional, aesthetic, accessibility and safety improvements. The common thread of these improvements is the intention to highlight the character of the square, to emphasize its identity and that of the neighborhood that surrounds it: Plana Square is a place linked to the beginnings of basketball in Badalona.
The preliminary project is defined as a conceptual proposal book, a collection of ideas with design options and material references.
From the point of view of energy efficiency, our aim is to ensure that the complex formed by the square and the underground car park has zero consumption (energy neutrality), that is to say that the generated energy compensates at all times the one consumed by the parking lot and the square.
