Study for Penedés Square and Sant Francesc promenade. Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona.

The project aim is to overcome the traditional gap between the Penedès Square, over the underground parking lot, and the Sant Francesc promenade, consider as the "traditional centre" of the town.

Therefore, the centre expands. As a large public hall that will be a reference point in all the municipality, with new parterres (surface gardens) and vegetation, urban furniture, and above all a new "global pavement design", thought as a hole and not as a bunch of pieces without continuity. But over all, the project tries to overcome the traumatic cut that the old freeway to Barcelona did to the town.
With all this, we try to create a new skin, which could recognize the singular character of the space, as well as the needs of relation with the urban context, allowing a new response concept to the urban space.
