Preliminary study for Marqué Square in Skikda, Algeria.

The purpose to regenerate the site comes from the desire to recover and restore this important place that has always been present in the past of the city of Skikda.
The square is a focal point of the city. It lies at the southern end of the main street, the rue Nationale.

The idea is to expand the current scope of the square to connect with the City Hall. In the northeast towards the train station, we decided to build a platform to get a visual connection with the station building.
A carousel rotates in the center of the square. Between the two bars are positioned elements to create a shaded area with benches to enjoy the public space. The project also aims to maximize the shaft created for the building of the Great Coffee, continuing with the geometry of the block by repeating elements: banks, ponds, decorative plant pots, all enhanced by a row of palm trees.
The use of vegetal and water elements reduces the strong image of the square.

The ensemble creates a central open space for events and local festivals.
Finally, we project a parking place in two levels underground underneath the square.
