Competition for the New Water Front, Port Piccolo, Siracusa, Sicily, Italy.
The project generates a serial of urban proposals which strengthen the realtion between the port and the sea with the city.
A new parallel pedestrian axis connect in one side the public garden with the old port ferry area and in the other the old customs building with the new leisure area. The new plaza besides the garden is understood as the natural link between the historic urban city and the port piccolo.
Crossing this axis, there is the extension of the new maritime promenade which follows the historical trace of the Spanish walls, transforming the "baccino" area into a new leisure and rest platform, looking into the port and the sea. The last connection is trough a new pedestrian bridge to a new five star hotel, which also owns its private port and service area.
The proposal also reorganized all the water area, designing a new disposition of decks, more clear and organized. The Port Piccolo of Siracusa as a little jewel to moor, increasing its value and service capacity without losing its character.
