Preliminary study for the adaptation of the terraces and commercial premises of Port Ginesta in Sitges
The proposal to adapt the terraces of the premises and the interior reform of the buildings in the commercial area is drawn up in the strategic framework of the green transformation and improvement of the competitiveness of the port.
Port Ginesta is an emblematic infrastructure of the Catalan coast and one of the largest marinas in the State. Its strategic location, 25 km from Barcelona and 12 km from the airport, in the middle section of the Catalan coast, gives it a unique (potential) interest as a tourist destination, even though Port Ginesta is not part of a consolidated tourist destination or a residential and leisure resort (as are the cases of l'Escala and Empuriabrava, the other two large Catalan marinas).
In order to be more competitive and sustainable, Port Ginesta must be transformed into a tourist destination, with leisure activities, attractive to visitors arriving from Sitges and Barcelona; to achieve it, it is necessary to redesign to make better use of existing facilities and free spaces.
The commercial area has lost its appeal over the years and needs to be updated, but it has great untapped potential: the terraces of the existing restaurants and shops, with a magnificent view of the boats. The proposal transforms the terraces into gardens where water is the protagonist, also adding new functions and the service areas, like the chill-out area.
