New section of Garbet - Port Joan, Colera coastal path
The main objective of the project is the construction of a new section of the coastal path between Garbet beach and the small cove of Port Joan, in Colera.
This infrastructure is of great importance to promote sustainable tourism, as it will offer hikers and nature lovers a safe and attractive route to enjoy the coastal environment. In addition, the project contributes to the conservation and enhancement of the area's natural and landscape heritage, promoting environmental education.
Currently, the coastal path in the area ends up at Garbet beach; this stretch starts in the Cap Ras area and connects with Canyelles beach in Llançà, towards the south. To the north there is no patrol road, as the area of Muntanya dels Canons is not urbanized: it is an area of vineyards and pine forests.
The new section of the coastal path is designed adapted to the topography, like a footbridge that rests on the rocks and allows access to the small cove of Esculls to finally reach the small jetty of Port Joan. The materials chosen, mainly wood, ensure a correct integration into the landscape of the area and are suitable for being located in front of the sea (resistant to the marine environment).
