Improvement Proposal for the Promenade at Sant Antoni de Calonge, with smart city criteria. Preliminary study Section 2

The Sant Antoni de Calonge promenade, with a length of 4.5 km, is a backbone of the utmost importance for the local tourism brand: it concentrates various land uses and activities that make Sant Antoni an attractive destination all year round.
The improvement project is based on a smart and sustainable design perspective. The aim is to define guidelines for an urban improvement strategy that increases competitiveness, resilience and, in general, the quality of the urban habitat around the promenade.
The urban improvement proposal for the promenade is the direct application of this strategy, and includes measures and actions that can be implemented in different phases, in accordance with this strategy. The new dune system and the proposed new structures will help restore the balance of the coast and protect it from erosion, considering the fragility of the coast in the scenario of extreme weather events associated with climate change.
The key concepts of the proposal are: a double-level promenade, with a different design for each section, sculptures and elements of Land Art, activity platforms, intelligent and sustainable elements. The project corresponds to Section 2.
