Accessibility study of the coastal path in Platja d'Aro, with installation of an elevator
The coastal path that connects Platja d’Aro and Sant Antoni de Calonge is a succession of unique landscapes and places with high historical, social and environmental value, as a cultural landscape of the Empordà.
The coastal path is adapted to the rocky and steep terrain of the coast: it follows the contours in many places, but it includes many ups and downs everywhere, with lots of steps and stairs. Some sections need to improve safety, others are uncomfortable due to their length and all of them represent an obstacle for the wheelchair user.
Cala del Pi is a small cove, completely inaccessible for wheelchair users. In addition, the promenade (coastal path) and the steps that go down to the beach in this section need to improve safety. In this context, the possibility and impact of locating here an elevator that allows universal access to the cove is being studied.
