Preliminary study for the improvement of the Promenade at Port Ginesta in Sitges
The proposal to improve the Promenade is drawn up in the strategic framework of the green transformation and improvement of the port's competitiveness.
Port Ginesta is an emblematic infrastructure of the Catalan coast and one of the largest marinas in the State. Its strategic location, 25 km from Barcelona and 12 km from the airport, in the middle section of the Catalan coast, gives it a unique (potential) interest as a tourist destination, even though Port Ginesta is not part of a consolidated tourist destination or a residential and leisure resort (as are the cases of l'Escala and Empuriabrava, the other two large Catalan marinas).
In order to be more competitive and sustainable, Port Ginesta must be transformed into a tourist destination, with leisure activities, attractive to visitors arriving from Sitges and Barcelona; to achieve it, it is necessary to redesign to make better use of existing facilities and free spaces.
The Promenade is the best place to enjoy the commercial offer of the port; the proposal is to naturalize it with a sequence of dunes, draining pavement, vegetation and shade elements, with a unique and attractive design, to energize this central area of the port.
