Caves de Peralada Urban Improvement Plan (PMU)

The object of the Caves Urban Improvement Plan, defined in the POUM of Peralada, is an area of 10,580m2 located on the outskirts of the walled enclosure, in the historic center of the municipality.
The aim of the PMU is to design the transformation of the old wine cellars with the formation of a central square and a sequence of open spaces and green areas which link the historic center with the modern extension of Peralada.

The proposal is based on the continuity of the streets reaching the boundaries of the sector. The relationship of the central square with the monumental complex of Peralada Castle is studied in detail.
The building type defined as a closed block is a characteristic of the historic center: some of the interior courtyards of the island are gardens or cloisters, places of high heritage and landscape value. The zoning proposal aims to recover this typology for one of the buildable plots: the plot located in the north of the sector, for hotel use.
