COMPETITION. Methodology for the execution of the construction of expansion and renovation of the Maritime Terminal No. 6 in Palma de Mallorca

Each year, more than half a million cruise passengers are coming to Palma's harbour.

In order to choose the best time to start the construction and the rhythm of it, we have analyzed the current dynamic of the Maritime Terminal No.6, in order to avoid the interference between the port operations and the terminal works. One of the most important targets is to improve the passengers movement during the construction, avoiding the crossing between construction circulation and passengers path.

It is proposed to establish a direct transport of communication to speed up the response in critical or unexpected moments while planning an adaptation of the work, preventing the collapse of circulation at the moment of maximum amount of cruise arrivals.

We want to reduce the timing, by optimizing processes, improving the organization and simplifying construction. We intend to carry out construction and urbanization in only one phase, by following a work plan that will reduce the working time.

We propose the incorporation of a temporary tent for the operation of the Terminal. It will be located on the right side of the construction area, thus it frees the access to boats, that will be totally independent.
