Diamond Empordà. Consultancy to design an inter-municipal cooperation project in the Empordà within the framework of the Next Generation European funds

The Empordà is an area of great tourist interest, with unique natural values and highly protected: protected natural spaces represent 37% of the territory. At the same time, it is a very fragmented territory from an administrative point of view and artificially separated into two counties, when its territorial identity is unique. Empordà has a total of 104 municipalities.
Within the framework of the Next Generation European funds for local development, most of these municipalities plan to present small projects of local interest, some of them with a supra-municipal impact. But many of the calls for projects from the Next Generation funds require a more global and strategic vision and encourage cooperation between entities, municipalities and/or autonomous communities.

Diamond Empordà is a cooperation project that starts with 5 municipalities, while working to include more participants from the area. The first objective is to promote transversal projects such as the wine and gastronomy route, the archaeological discovery network or itineraries through natural parks. The second objective is to promote in a common framework the most outstanding projects of each municipality: revitalization of historic centers, new emblematic equipment or energy rehabilitation and circulation improvements.
